„East” to instalacja audiowizualna, która powstała jako efekt współpracy Prurienta i Svena Marquardta. Idea projektu wywodzi się z kultury klubowej i jest próbą połączenia fotografii z językiem muzycznym.

Instalacja składa się z serii zdjęć East Side Girls zrobionych na początku lat 80-tych we wschodnim Berlinie i East Village w Nowym Jorku oaz muzki skomponowanej przez Prurienta. Materiały video oraz wizualizacje na to wydarzenie zostały przygotowane przez kolektyw Pfadfinderei. Oldschoolowy New York Punk i Hardcore miesza się z tym, co działo się wtedy w Berlinie. Kładąc nacisk na kontrasty, Artyści działają przeciw generalizacji i wprowadzają widza w poczucie paradoksu. Sven Marquardt i Pruirient kreują świat bez wyjaśnienia, w którym prezentują odbiorcy scenariusz i pewną historię bez mówienia wprost o czym ona jest. To stawia widza i słuchacza w szczególnej sytuacji, w której musi stać się nie tylko obserwatorem, ale także uczestnikiem – kultura klubowa nie jest kulturą pasywną; trzeba być jej częścią, aby ją zrozumieć.

EAST is an audio visual installation, a cooperation between Prurient and Sven Marquardt, between music and photos. Their both root is club culture and it is the attempt to combine imagery with musical language. The concept merges the photo series East Side Girls – emerged in the early 1980`ies in East Berlin and East Village, New York City, where Prurient`s label Hospital Productions manifested itself as an infamous brick and mortar store. All video materials and visuals were created by Pfadfinderei Collective. Oldschool New York punk and hardcore is melted with what was happening in Berlin in the 80ies. The common work emphasizes contrasts, works against what can be the generic answer to something. Prurient`s music gives a paradox, Sven Marquardt brought that out in a way that he couldn’t have reached without him. It is a world without explanation, it`s something thats exists. You are confronted with a scenario and a story, but you are not necessarily told what it is. It makes the viewer and listener have to participate. Club Culture is not a passive culture, you have to be part of it to understand it.
