Ensemble Economique, CIA Debutante
26 października 2019
Dwa projekty z eksperymentalnymi dźwiekami.
Ensemble Economique, to projekt Briana Pyle’a (Los Angeles) oscylujący pomiedzy eksperymentem, ambientem, przestrzennymi , intensywnymi kompozycjami, opisywanymi jako swego rodzaju dark pop.
CIA DEBUTANTE to projekt duetu z Paryża:
Nathan’a Roche’a (Le Villejuif Underground) & Paul’a Bonnet’a (Disposition Matrix).
Dżwięki, które tworzą to z pozoru karkołomny kolaż łaczący deklamacje, glitche, dźwięki lo fi, bawiąc sie przy tym bogactwem pop kultury.

ENSEMBLE ECONOMIQUE – live act. Los Angeles
(Staving Weirdos, RV Paintings, Naked Island, Video Salon, OP).
Ensemble Economique is California-based musician Brian Pyle. The music of Ensemble Economique is a multidisciplinary trip into the exotic unknown. Deeply emotional and intense, his music moves seamlessly through sound-collage/dark noir pop/minimal techno. Experimental music in a very pure form, idiosyncratic and thoroughly humanistic.
Active since 2008, he has released numerous albums with such revered labels as Not Not Fun, Shelter Press, Dekorder, Hands In The Dark and the last several releases on Denovali. Most recently with his breakthrough album 'Radiate Through You’ out on Denovali, September, 2018. A nuanced catharsis, alternately tempestuous and transcendent, forlorn but undefeated. Vaulted heavens of interwoven electronics ebb into hushed dirges of skeletal percussion and candlelit guitar. Roiling noise seethes, swells, and subsides as an ashen string arrangement rises in the mix, keening a somber, circular elegy, as if overtaken by memory on a long walk alone.

Review Quotes:
„Brian Pyle’s music floats, shimmers and wades through tense settings that are expansive yet closely surrounded by constant movement – like activity within thick fog. Its canon is familiar, but the setting is less so; while patient, clamorous guitars and eerie, sometimes strained vocals draw natural comparisons to shoegaze, its thick electronic production points elsewhere. Foreboding synth harmonies are very reminiscent of Salem and Angelo Badalamenti, and the more delicate, hazy qualities of its textures share territory with Scandinavian techno impressionist The Field or US drone group Growing.”

„In Silhouette is such a striking vision coupled with such a tour de force of production genius that it almost renders the actual music at the core irrelevant. In fact, I think this might be an uncategorizable outsider masterpiece of some kind”

„will likely scratch the inch for those with an interest in, say, early industrial music, library music, The Shadow Ring, and spy films. A solid release.” – FreeFormFreakout
A lolloping low-end sets up an awkward groove, the rusting, delay-driven lurch halfway between King Tubby and ‘Red Mecca’-era Cabaret Voltaire. Roche’s vocalese stomps right through all this like Van Vliet on downers, his blurt both menacing and helpless. – https://weneednoswords.wordpress.com/2019/01/24/cia-debutante-waves/
„With or without headphones, these tapes just keeps getting better &better with each listen.” –

„Like painting over a canvas so many times that the paint peels and cracks in places, while retaining a shadow of the original image beneath, ‘We will play for spirits’ is densely layered and mysterious. On ‘Phonetapping’ and ‘Forty-eight dollars a night neon’, delicate synths and miniature drum machine cymbals are penetrated by crushing vocals and screaming frequencies swathed in distortion. Loosely inspired by an “air crash,” each song seems guided by the harmony of alien lifeforms. A harmony disturbed by an unfamiliar relic – a muffled human voice captured on chewed up tape-loop. One could listen for eternity and never unravel the code..” – Critic NZ.
„Emerging from the trauma with an endlessly fascinating lo-fi blast of headache-made-sound-art. The low purple spectrum of devious fluctuations bubble and merge till it makes so much sense that a ghost whose best work was in the 1930s has to present itself to sell me.” – http://www.tabsout.com/?p=20890
